Pumpkin Carving

Yet another Halloween tradition- we carve pumpkins. This year we did a couple of things differently. First we cut the bottom off of the pumpkin which makes it easier to light the pumpkin. This allows you to light the candle and then set the pumpkin over it instead of trying to burn yourself in the process of lighting the candle inside of the hollowed out pumpkin. Secondly, we had the kids draw on paper their pumpkin's face, and then we translated that to the pumpkin for them. Emma really wanted swirly eyes, and Brigham wanted his pumpkin to have a tongue. The Doc had the great idea of my pumpkin to resemble a pirate of which was inspired by our table runner. The Doc carved a good gourd, and our nanny as well carved "Boo."

Those are awesome! I love the swirly eyes, the boo, and the tall spooky one! I never thought to cut out the bottom, we'll have to give that a try! Very nice!
